A big screen, a super loud speaker, big buttons and a cool design – all of this can be said about the new device in the Comfort 50 line, Comfort 50 Outdoor. This phone is drastically different from the other grandma phones because, as its name suggests, it was created for people that enjoy outdoor activities. For this exact reason Comfort 50 Outdoor has a sturdy frame with the X-treme line’s style, and has IP68 protection against water and dust.
Yes, you are not mistaken: this is Sigma mobile’s very first waterproof grandma phone. Comfort 50 Outdoor has all the functions needed for the elderly, or people with bad eyesight or hearing disabilities (big numbers on the buttons, loud speaker, big screen and so on), combined with the durability of a real rugged device that doesn’t fear water, dust and dirt. The IP68 ingress protection standard means that you can immerse the phone in up to 1,5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes, and the smallest particles of dirt or sand cannot penetrate the frame, in case all the plugs are in place.
Comfort 50 Outdoor is equipped with a 2,8-inch colour display with a resolution of 240х320 pixels per inch. In accordance with the company standards, characters for typing in Ukrainian, English and Russian are printed on the keyboard.
Thanks to the double SIM card slot the grandma phone can function via networks of the GSM standard. And a slot for microSD-cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB can be used for memory expansion.
Apart from that, Comfort 50 Outdoor has all the standard functions for everyday use. Its phonebook allows you to store up to 500 contacts in the device’s memory, a certain number of contacts on the SIM card (depending on your card), and another 500 contacts on the memory card – a fairly unusual function for a bar phone. Each contact saved in the phone’s memory can have a name, a photo and an individual melody. It is also possible to group contacts, export and import them.
You can set up 8 speed dial numbers for the 2-9 buttons, as well as 4 emergency numbers, which can be activated with the SOS function. Apart from that you can save up to 50 SMS messages on the device.
The Organizer menu section can make the user experience even more convenient. It contains an alarm clock, a calculator, a calendar, an e-book reader and a flashlight. Thanks to Bluetooth you can use a stereo headset to listen to your favorite audio recordings. Among multimedia features we need to mention the audio and video players, a camera with a matrix resolution of 0,3 MP, a dictaphone and an FM radio. By the way, you don’t have to connect a headset to the device to listen to the radio, as Comfort 50 Outdoor has a built-in antenna.
Comfort 50 Outdoor is equipped with a powerful battery with a capacity of 2500 mAh, which is sufficient for up to 24 hours of use in continuous calling mode or up to almost 3 weeks in short calls mode.
One of the special features of Comfort 50 Outdoor is the charging cradle that is included in the set. It makes charging the device quick and easy: you no longer have to mess with the wires and look for the right connector. Phones with cradles are a rarity on the market, which makes this addition even more valuable.
The reverse charging function was added so that you would be able to use Comfort 50 Outdoor to recharge other devices. Your friend’s smartphone, yout business phone or the tablet your kids watch cartoons on – all electronic devices need recharging. This feature is very useful if there is no powerbank nearby. You will find the OTG adapter, which is necessary to activate it, in the set with the grandma phone.
The Call Recording function allows you to record any call and then listen to it again. This can be useful in cases when you couldn’t hear the caller clearly, or if the call contained important information that you may accidentally forget.
Thanks to the lace hole located in the upper left corner of the frame you can carry the phone on a lace around your neck, or attach keychains to personalize it. This is only a tiny detail of the design, and sometimes such little things can change a lot in your life.
Of course, we have not forgotten about your safety and mental health. To protect yourself from unwanted calls and scammers, you can add contacts to the Blacklist, or use the Whitelist feature – then you won’t receive calls from any numbers apart from the ones that have been given special permission by you.
